Dear Mr. and Mrs. Doe:
In July, you e-mailed me with your concerns about CHUBB Insurance Company and its relationship with boards of directors. I want to apologize for my delayed response to your comments. This has been an extraordinary year, given the inquiry that we conducted into the California Department of Insurance, and the number of comments from the public skyrockeeted. We are only now getting caught up on some of those comments.
I have tentatively agreed to do a hearing in January on the subject of insurance and homeowners associations. I cannot confirm for certain that I will hold the hearing because it depends upon other issues that may need to be examined at that time. However, I am concerned about the complaints that I have received and I am leaning towards a hearing in order to learn more about those complaints.
I am sorry that your experience with your association has been costly, both in time and anguish. I've heard this complaint many times. I promise to make a decision before the end of the year regarding the hearing. If you e-mail a member of my staff in early December, there may be more information available about a hearing. You should e-mail Mr. Brian Perkins at brian.perkins@sen.ca.gov. Mr. Perkins is the person that I have determined will do preliminary work on this issue. Your may also call him around that time at 916-445-0503.
All the best,
Jackie Speier
