There seems to be not much else to do but just move on. Too bad you can't buy a new house in Colorado without buying into an HOA.

Andrew,
Some may appreciate your defense of the other side of The Hidden Truth about Your HOA. However, when the HOA you belong to operates as a separate Corporate entity of the homeowners activities; when the management company screens Executive Board Candidates that homeowners vote for; and when the Managment Company, Developer, HOA Corp. are indistinguishable, and when the corrupt real estate machine of your State is insulated from State civil and criminal rule of law, what then is your solution to their Despotic rule outlined in The Hidden Truth about Your HOA????
In Utah I'm certain an HOA is the panacea for commune living. Most Americans find liberty and freedom to be the life of choice. Despotism was hung by its heels on a street light in Europe and decapitated in Asia at the end of WWII -- that was the Democratic answer then and hasn't changed today.

While I'm certain there are corrupt boards as this article mentions this article makes it sound like they all are, which couldn't be further from the truth.
My HOA's board are filled with owners who are genuinely trying to make the community a better place for everyone. We all pay the same HOA fees as everyone else. We don't receive any pay for any of the time we spend in our duties. On our board we do what we can to be as responsibe to the owners as we can. However, we can't be expected to be on call 24/7 either.
This article claims litigation is the only solution. That's bure bunk. The solution is to get involved in your community and get the other owners involved. Show up to your meetings and voice your opinion. If you're board is unresponsive, vote in a new board. If your property management company is untrustworthy fire them and get another one.
If you ignore your community until things get so bad you have to sue someone, then you are just guilty for the problems as anyone else.
