12. Homeowner victims won't lift a finger to change things UNLESS they feel it's SAFE for them to do so.

I believe we may find the answer to that question here in Colorado when I get my petition to amend the Colorado constitution up and running.
"I believe that most HOA dwellers are naive, and that the trouble we speak of just hasn't happened to them, and they aren't too interested in the troubles that are happening to others."
Yes, that would be in keeping with what this country appears to be evolving into. That is, a fascist state wherein one must ignore the obvious -- no matter how atrocious -- lest the same thing happen to THEM!

Shades of Nazi Germany. :-(
"When they wake up, and realize that they have been deluded into accepting their own prison system and are trapped with nowhere to go, they will all scream their heads off..."
As fascism proceeds, nobody "screams" anymore ... except the helpless victims.
"Human nature is such that either it doesn't believe what is happening: "it won't happen to me" or, "as long as it isn't happening to me..."
(sigh>)
"In the past ten years of shouting to the world about what is happening, there has been no real response. Oh, a few people say they are too smart to buy in to these places, but in reality, there has been no real change for the people who are victims (survivors?) in HOAs."
IMHO, there won't be any changes until We The Informed and Intelligent People ourselves make it happen. If we don't, nobody else will.
"WE have become a nation with a foundation of socialistic/communism that has morphed into the beast of Corporate America, and, no one seems to care!"
"No one seems to care." THAT is "face of" fascism in a nutshell!
"Until enough people will come and openly stand together, such as in the Civil Rights Movement, we do not have a chance."
Agreed. Question is, how do we advocates make that happen?
"And if 91% of HOA people are "happy" where do we get that base from?"
91% probably are not "happy." But they won't lift a finger to change things UNLESS they feel it's SAFE for them to do so.

11. Questions asked by Zogby - CAI poll would guarantee CAI would get the results that they wanted.
  To Username withheld in California:

Has anyone seen any of the questions that were asked in the Zogby poll? And, does the sponsor write the questions? (in this case, the sponsor being the CAI).

If so, it wouldn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that the questions asked would guarantee CAI would get the results that they wanted.

IF in fact 91% of all HOA dwellers are "happy" ? -- then what chance do we have?

I believe that most HOA dwellers are naive, and that the trouble we speak of just hasn't happened to them, and they aren't too interested in the troubles that are happening to others.

When they wake up, and realize that they have been deluded into accepting their own prison system and are trapped with nowhere to go, they will all scream their heads off...

Human nature is such that either it doesn't believe what is happening: "it won't happen to me" or, "as long as it isn't happening to me..."

WE have become a nation with a foundation of socialistic/communism that has morphed into the beast of Corporate America, and, no one seems to care!

Until enough people will come and openly stand together, such as in the Civil Rights Movement, we do not have a chance.

And if 91% of HOA people are "happy" where do we get that base from?

8. Zogby poll purchased by CAI foreclosure lawyers - another mantra to deceive
Re: Jan Jackson's comment on CAI - Zogby "poll

Zogby is a business and this "Zogby poll" was a purchase of America's HOA foreclosure lawyers. It was another "poll" like the previous "polls" that if put under the light will be found to have been conducted to give foreclosure lawyers conclusions they can use to deceive the world and continue stealing property.

A current AHRC poll that asks
Do you trust America's judges to follow laws and make just rulings that protect rights and property of homeowners in homeowner associations?
show 91% of Americans do not believe that America's judges follow the laws and make just rulings.

Marie Anderson
California

This is consistent with the corporate, political, and judicial corruption that is sweeping America and destroying not just America's financial but the world's financial markets.

One has only to look at the finances of people scammed by CAI lawyers and judges, the billions these scammers and associated have pocketed and corporate, legislative and judicial corruption and the wave of distrust of the American people and the world to see the true "poll".

7. Perhaps enough HOA homeowners have not yet been damaged....
To Sharon and all comment posters:

Just heard about a new Zogby survey about HOAs. Results showed that (I think it was) 75% of HOA homeowners are happy with their HOAs.

Given that Zogby is supposed to the a reputable survey company, one has to wonder if maybe it isn't yet time for We The People to try to legally change anything about HOAs?

Perhaps enough HOA homeowners have not yet been damaged -- ecologically and financially -- by their HOAs to become interest in legally reforming them or abolishing them altogether. Until that happens, we who are trying to make legal changes in HOAs may just be spinning our legal and political wheels.

If the above is true, one can only hope that by the time enough HOA homeowners HAVE been damaged by the HOA Industry, it will not be too late to do anything about it. (sigh)

5. We need you too badly...
  Hi Jan~

About 1997 we had a drug family move in to our Shadowcrest Hoa, in Cathedral City, CA. When I could get no help from the board I began to study the laws regulating homeowner associations. I was shocked at what I found, and, how they were being blatantly ignored by the board, property management, and attorneys.

Yes, I agree there is much more education and awareness of the problems in HOAs, and because of this there are fewer people willing to buy in to such places. Wherever I go, and whoever I speak with I ask, "Do you live in a homeowner association?" Then I give them my little spiel on my knowledge of these places.

I don't think apathy is necessarily the whole problem. Most people seem just too busy to really get involved, and, if it isn't affecting them, than they would just rather not even know about the problems.

I have started a Blog, "Ain't It Beautiful" http://sharonstephens.blogspot.com/ and a number of my posts have been picked up by other websites such as Google Alert, Donald Trump.com, and, a few others. Also, I continue to email posts from off this blog to government officials, and the media.

Yes, I have heard of We The People, but as I recall these petitions aren't valid? Perhaps I am wrong, but I read that somewhere on the Internet when people in Texas was putting out such a petition.

You should know: I am considered a "convicted felon" (I am still trying to fight my conviction!) and cannot vote, and my signature would be no good on a petition for five years when the charges against me will be expunged.

I do hope you don't "hang it up and head deeper into the mountains, never to be heard from again."

We need you too badly. :>)

4. ....but what price justice, eh? (smile)
  Username withheld in Amelia, Ohio,

(1) Well, I really can't afford a P.I., but what price justice, eh? (smile)

(2) You wrote: "...when you hire a P.I. to investigate the HOA for anything that violates the Constitution, then they ARE investigating CRIMES!" It is??!! Can you cite the law about that???

(3) You also wrote: "...you can't legally sign away your Constitutional rights." As far as I know, you not only can, you do, when you buy into an HOA. Why? Because what you signed when you bought your property was a PRIVATE CONTRACT. And, in a private contract, you VOLUNTARILY AGREED TO GIVE UP EVERY CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHT YOU HAVE that your HOA board may want to take away from you.

3. Just wondering...
  Sharon,

Just wondering... How long ago were you doing your "publicizing" of your problems with your HOA? If a lot of years ago, perhaps HOA homeowner advocates' "education" of the public about HOAs over the years hadn't yet hit it peak (as it seems to be doing now)?

I myself have been doing this (HOA homeowner advocacy) for over ten years. Fifteen years ago, there were only two people, that I know of, trying to do anything about it. I was one of them. Fred Pilot was the other one. (AHRC might have been online then, but no one that I talked to ever told me anything about it at the time.) Eventually, two others joined us and we become known all over the internet as "The Fearsome Foursome." (grin) From that small beginning online, thousands of others have joined the battle against HOAs ... and I found AHRC. (smile)

Perhaps apathy about HOAs is still running rampant in our nation. I don't know. But I figure that a good way to find out (at least in my state of Colorado) is to get a petition by We The People going to outlaw HOAs in our state. If we can't get the 120,000 signatures we need on those petitions, I've already told everyone that's interested in my state that I will hang it up and head deeper into the mountains, never to be heard from again.

Why will I do that? Because if We The People of the state of Colorado don't have enough of what it takes to do a simple act like signing a petition for one of their most important freedoms and liberties (private property rights), then I really don't want to have any more to do with any of them.

So, why not come back on board (re this issue) for a little bit, Sharon, and see how it goes with We The People currently. You might be surprised at what happens. :-)
