Looking at the date on the original article, June 6, 1993, I have come to the opinion that after ten years of people losing their homes to corrupt boards, management companies, attorneys, and various other assorted crooks........something is VERY wrong in Sacramento.
The legislators of this state (with few exceptions) do not have the best interest of the people they serve in mind nor do they listen to the people.
They are listening to the advocates AGAINST passing bills to relieve homeowners of the tyranny while at the same time ignoring the blood, sweat, tears, and dreams of homeowners living in HOA's in California.
Again, the almighty dollar speaks.

Clark Wallace, the former California Real Estate Commissioner was a political appointee of former California governor Pete Wilson.
He is now the lobbyist for ECHO, another litigation industry dominated trade group.
As an ECHO lobbyist, he fought disclosure of critical information to potential buyers in homeowner associations.

Dick Fiore , the founder and chair of CLAC resigned from this position in 1994. He is still a director of CAI and does collections and litigation for associations.
He holds an elective position as a board director of the Moulton Niguel Water District , a water district in southern California.
.
CAI's legislative sucesses in getting bills sponsored and passed in the California legislature ended in 1994.
Since then, they have used other allied groups they helped found, (e.g.CACM the association managers lobby group - AB555) ,to front legislation of interest to them, or tagged on other special interest bills e.g. AB1025 Torlakson bill

Updates:
Dan Hauser, the chair of the California Assembly Housing Committee continued to ignore homeowner activists and worked closely to shepherd CAI/CLAC's anti-homeowner bills. He was unsucessful.
Californians, fed up with their corrupt politicians, voted in term limits for legislators.
Dan Hauser is still bitter at being ousted. He is now the mayor of Arcata - a small town on the coast in Northern California.
