What book are you refering to and would it apply to New Jersey? How would I get all of the Statutes for New Jersey?

The Truth in Lending etc. can be found on Google, Federal Trade Commission but I suggest all HOA residents educate themself faster by calling the Consumer Action Handbook 2004 Edition, at Pueblo, Colorado on the toll free number: 1-888-878-3256 and request one of their free consumer directories.
It wil list every state and federal agency with an explanation of what assistance is offered free.

I have relied them on many years and they also provides on how to send complaints.

Agreed Willowdean : much agreed but as I read, I hope the watered down version, of the Sherman Act and the Truth In Lending Act, I cannot discern a viable action that I and my fellows could take against such depolorable actions by our so called " ASSociotion "
here in Illinois
If you could , when your time permits , please send a link to where I could find this information
IE: the AUCTUAL Sherman act
and the AUCTUAL Truth In Lending Act
I am not being " lazy " here But am at a misdirection of where to find this info and am most forthright to correct this great American wrong that has happened over the last several decades.

I live in an California HOA with huge problems but have just recently been made aware of all the foreclosures that are taking place in our country.
Your article is "right on" and we definitely need to have our legislative representatives take the power away from these Homeowner Association Boards, and the people that are on them!
This problem is expecially sad for seniors that are being forced out of their homes with no place to go and no money to fight this "wrong"! It isn't right and shouldn't be happening!
Thank you for your Great Article. I hope people in our government correct this problem as soon as possible.

Thank you for your very interesting and inspiring story. I grew up on Lackland Air Force Base, and our swim team went to the National AAU championships there. I attended Our Lady of the Lake High School and the grade school, St. Martin's Hall, and have very fond memories of taking art classes and all the rest on the air base. My father was a non-commissioned officer, and I had no idea that it was YOU who helped make a change in status that I later on enjoyed. I had no idea that any changes HAD been made, or NEEDED to be made.
Will wonders never cease? All the more reason for us to "not give up the fight" and make sure that somehow, someway, the laws are changed in regards to HOA's.
We sold too at a loss (given the investment I had already made), even though we got the going market rate, and I can't tell you how happy I am to literally "have my life back."
I had no idea how rotten, cruel and corrupt people can be, especially when given a free reign as they have in HOA's. I never saw that side of human nature before, and hope that until the day I do, I never will again. Never will I be in the position of having my "neighbors" make any decisions for me. It's bad enough with the politicians and president we now have; at least let me live in peace in my own little corner of the world, even if that corner is just my own little "home."
Never again will I darken the doorway of any HOA, as "abandon all hope all ye who enter here!" I know that many places are practically all HOA's, but I chose a lower-cost place in a lower-cost neighborhood where there definitely is no HOA and never will be (no one is interested here, as there isn't enough money to go after!). It's funny, though, as we truly have a certain amount of peace here. There's a couple of mean and nasty neighbors, and all I can think of is "thank God they have no power over me, or anyone else" ... I could just see them sending fines and raising dues and really going to town with the devil that they already are.

The alternative is a class action suit against this communist form of government misrepresented as a social experiement that has become a gulag turning neighbor against neighbor for the benefit of unethical lawyers licensed to steal by cash hungry State Bar Associations and the American Bar of Chicago.
God bless each homeowner and God Bless the action needed to restore justice, not JUST US!
