The insurance lawyers were fighting prevent the jury from seeing the victim. • At another case involving Palacio del Mar Homeowners Association (PDM), Chaffee manipulated the case and prevented the the homeowners from presenting evidence and witnesses. He coached the Peters & Freedman lawyer Jeffrey Pratt , suppressed evidence, put the false allegations by Peters & Freedman lawyers into his rulings as if they were the facts, used his discretationery powers against the homeowner and in favor of Peters & Freedman lawyers, and after ruling in favor of Peters & Freedman awarded them hundreds of thousands of dollars for their "legal fees". Complaints have been filed with the California State Commission on Judicial Performance• Other homeowners, their lawyers, and lawyers acting as plaintiffs in their own homeowner association cases reported similar judicial misconduct by Judge Chaffee. • Chaffee was a defendant in a RICO case See: 10 Judges Hit With RICO Lawsuit - Los Angeles Daily Journal - December 21, 1999
