The Davis Stirling Act allowed non-judicial foreclosures, and took away much of the normal property and constitutional rights of homeowners. Lawyers could charges unlimited lawyers fees for lawsuits using the home equity of the owners and reserves. The Davis-Stirling laws started the foreclosure litigation floods. Countless homeowners lost their home equity, and many lost their homes to foreclosure and insurance lawyers.
