Citizens Against Private Government HOA's in Arizona is a great organization based on our experience. We appreciated their support during our time of need!
We were pushed to the edge and the only reason we didn't go over the edge is because of the tremendous support we received through the internet and groups like the above as well as this website.

I doubt very seriously that many homeowner advocates from Arizona are going to do anything about helping Mr. Glassell's situation.
Other than a couple of people, too many of them were strangely silent when it all went down. Maybe they weren't really true homeowner adovcates? There are plenty of rumours flying about some women in Arizona who seem to do more instigating than anything and seem to be a little too cozy with the HOA industry groups.
Didn't the Arizona Republic get more support letters for Glassell from OUT OF STATE than from Arizona?

Mr. Glassel should not receive the death penalty, As a person who is being pushed to the edge by my despotic HOA (Government ) Due to their law suit against my wife, and I. I fully understand the stress Mr. Glassel was under when takeing the actions he took.
While many may suggest that Mr. Glassel could have depended upon our legal system, I could only suggest that the system is not working for the homeowner, and that the frustration can drive a person to the brink of insanity.

Isn't it possible for Governor Napolitano to pardon Mr. Glassel?
George, Rauni, Pat, Mika, why don't you initiate a petition drive to ask Napolitano to paradon Mr. Glassel?

Sadly, this is not the first time but will it be the last time that a once law abiding citizen gets pushed over the edge while having to defend his home against domestic enemy number one -HOA TYRANNY and its plethora of ilk?
"HOA RAGE" is real. NO ONE is IMMUNE. How much harassment could any normal Human Being put up with from an out of control, power hungry board of neighbors with too much time on their hands?
What would be YOUR breaking point? The constant 'drip drip drip' of torture under threat of foreclosure by neighbor of one's absolute last bastion of freedom - "home sweet home" - is something that is likely to be passionately defended by any freedom loving person.
People have been known to have violent fits of "ROAD RAGE" simply because someone takes their spot on the crowded freeways of Orange County, California. Or how about the more JUVENILE fits of "SPORTS RAGE" by out of control parents who never had a life, let alone ever knew how to swim and stay afloat at the same time.
Would the potential taking of one's home by a handful of so called "elected" neighbors with police powers, who may or may not like you, and with (what is now referred to as) a "personal ventana", fit in the category of emotions that would create RAGE?
Think about it..............
American soldiers put on uniforms and fight to the death to defend our country (and even FOREIGN countries). They are considered heroes and rightfully so. One has to wonder if something akin to an "HOA MILITIA" should be considered any different for defending one's "home" front? The roof over their heads? Shelter for their family, their children? Their livelihood? Likely the one thing they have worked day and night for?
We must be reminded of the following paragraph from the DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE:
"When any Form of Government becomes destructive of these Ends (that being "life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness), it is the RIGHT of the PEOPLE to alter or to abolish it....But when a long Train of Abuses and Usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object, evinces a Design to reduce them under ABSOLUTE DESPOTISM, it is their RIGHT, it is their DUTY to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future Security."
We would all be fools not to believe that "HOA RAGE" can happen, is happening, and may continue to happen. Something must be done to stop the madness of building private fiefdoms of neighbor controlling neighbor, under no system of checks, balances or Constitutional protections. It is a volatile mix, sure to breed divisiveness, hate and potential violence.
The POLITICIANS must pull their heads out of the sand and address the dangers and risks of HOA life. Politicians must stop prostituting themselves to the highest bidder (in this case, the HOA industry and its ilk), listen to the HOMEOWNER constituent for a change, repeal the unconstitutional and dangerous HOA concept, and overall just stop this raping and pillaging of the American home for a quick "buck".
Anyone who continues to legitimize and support this legalized housing scam must be held responsible for the "blood, sweat and tears" shed by HOA victims across America (like Richard Glassell) that stains their hands and marks their souls!

Excellent report.
None of us support violence, but I doubt anyone is suprised either.
You brought up a lot of valid points.
Unfortunately, this kind of violence is not going to stop until the CAI an all it's members are out of business.

Thanks for the re-editing. You did a good job.
By the lack of feedback on my network, most advocates are afraid of this issue. I thank you for taking a stance on this very import trial which, hopefully, will call attention to HOA problems. Yes Barbara Walters was included in my distribution list.
It's my plan to get ACLU involved since the death penalty is one of their hot items. I sent my research release to Diann Rust-Tierney who is in charge of this issue at ACLU's headquarters. I will send the trial coverage article, under your logo to her also.
The local ACLU affiliate is a "loser" who treats HOAs, like all others in power here, as an American Sacred Cow -- untouchable.
As for Mrs. Glassel, I didn't get a chance to talk. She was wisked in and wisked out by, what it seemed, plain clothes court security -- the usual contingent from Ventana Lakes Homeowners Association was there.
She knew I was there and we nodded, but she called after the trial to thank me and said they were in control of her. She didn't want to talk to the media.
