It appears that all these people did was read over the AHRC website and then spill it on a paper and call it the Homeowner Bill of Rights - which was already a concept conceived by homeowners on AHRC many years ago. Besides, a lot of what I read on that piece of so called copyright material is stuff that we have been saying on AHRC which is all copyrighted material ALREADY.
They might as well have borrowed from the blind........

Certain AARP person's in California were approached several years ago to help homeowners in this fight to protect senior citizens and their investment. They did not want to have anything to do with HOA related issues saying that they don't get involved in such issues. So what's changed? Fine, if the want to help the only help they need to be offering is to LOBBY to fight foreclosure by HOA. Simple. Nothing complicated about that.
With regard to the Homeowner Bill of Rights - Gee, that sounds SOOOOOO familiar. Seems like we saw that somewhere on AHRC many many years ago. Are they trying to claim that as their creation in some way shape or form?
We have a Bill of Rights already. That is the one that matters. IF AARP really wants to do something useful then LOBBY to protect the rights that have been afforded us by the CONSTITUTION OF THE UNITED STATES!!!!
BAN HOA's!

Sometimes organizations, like people,do the right thing for the wrong reasons. Sometimes they do the wrong thing for the right reasons. I see no reason to villify an entire organization over a difference on one issue. On the other hand, we all need to remember that we all have the potential to become the monster we fight.

Sandy,
This is disturbing to hear about. The networks that are taking advantage of the consumer must be counter-acted.
It's hard to believe that AARP which once represented itself as a consumer activist organization has taken this path, but it is one that any group can eventually be subverted too.
Just look at the real-estate advertising pressure placed on local papers to avoid certain stories. We recently had a local paper editor replaced when he dared take on the developer establishment and their ULI/CAI/Specialty lawyer crowd.
Please keep us posted as one day all of us will fall into the eligible category as targets for AARP (as my parents are currently).
Thanks Again!
-Just one consumer group looking to keep networking with real people/homeowners!
