Thought this deserved to be reintroduced.
See what happens to politicians who don't listen to their constituents? Can you hear me now? Can you hear me now? How about now - FORMER (emphasis added) governor davis.
What other politicians needed to be added to this list? If you have tried to talk some sense into your local politicians about problems with Homeowner Associations and you got the cold shoulder, or a fake shoulder, or even a sympathetic shoulder that did nothing, put their name on the wall of shame.

The event is tomorrow ? Friday ? with the first tee time at 7:30 A.M. We profusely apologize for the short notice.

We hope you can show up to greet the Governor and his contributors and make sure we hold Gray?s feet to the fire for his return to his obsessive, compulsive fundraising. It was, after all, his focus on fundraising instead of leadership that got us into the repeated crises we are enduring in this state today.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
September 20, 2002
SIMON BLASTS DAVIS' FUNDRAISING TACTICS IN HIGH SPEED RAIL DEAL CALLS FOR INVESTIGATION BY STATE ATTORNEY GENERAL
SANTA MONICA - Gubernatorial nominee Bill Simon today delivered the following remarks concerning news reports this morning uncovering another Gray Davis pay to play shakedown:
"In today's newspapers, Californians will learn the latest troubling
chapter in the sorry tale of Governor Gray Davis' auctioning off public
policy to the highest bidder. Yet another Davis administration appointee
intimately involved in orchestrating fundraising events at the very time
the governor is acting on legislation affecting hundreds of companies
with business before the state.
"In a recent e-mail letter addressed to High Speed Rail Interests - meaning lobbyists, construction companies and others who perform the work and profit from the proposed $10 billion high speed rail project - Gray Davis' Chairman of the high speed rail authority, Mr. Diridon stated, and I quote, "the governor's campaign staff gave us 11 days to pull this off and I thought you might be able to help. We are committed to $50,000 and are really in need of your assistance."
"Mr. Diridon adds that the governor's staff needed an answer by Wednesday the 18th of September, one day before Davis was to take action on the bill placing the $10 billion high speed rail bond on the November 2004 ballot.
"Why did Gray Davis and his campaign staff want a list of contributors one day before the governor signed the bill? Don't we all know? The implication is clear...if you are going to profit from this high speed rail project, then you better help the governor's campaign profit.
"As we saw today, Gray Davis is a recent convert to supporting high speed rail. Did the potential for fundraising change his views? The people of California want answers, and the press and law enforcement agencies should be asking, just how deep the corruption goes.
"Just when we think we've seen the worst from this governor, we find a new bottom. Two weeks before the governor was to take action on the bill, his fundraisers knew to issue an edict to affected interests that they must contribute 24 hours before the governor was to sign SB 1856.
"We already know the governor's refrain; it's just a coincidence. But it is not coincidence. It is par for the course...a pattern we have seen from Davis and his cronies throughout his career.
* When Davis served on the state lands commission, he received campaign contributions from oil companies within days of voting to expand offshore drilling.
* Last year, we saw a lobbyist slip a $25,000 campaign check to a Davis appointee just days after the administration approved a $95 million sole-source computer contract with Oracle that the state did not need.
* This past spring, days after another Davis-appointed commission blocked the use of plastic pipes in new home construction, Davis took more than $350,000 from the plumbers and pipefitter's unions. The decision could cost new homebuyers in California an extra $50 million each year.
* And after the governor received $50,000 from Tosco, his administration reversed itself and gave them permission to increase by 400 percent its dumping of the cancer-causing dioxin into San Francisco Bay.
"Every time another one of these pay-to-play scandal surfaces, we hear the same rote denials from the Davis administration: there's no connection. Does anyone believe him anymore?
"This same governor has stated on numerous occasions that, It is inappropriate [for state officials to attend fundraisers]..."I have banned them from coming to" my events. Yet we see his campaign directing the chairman of the high speed rail authority to collect campaign cash.
"We can clearly see that what Gray Davis says is not true. And something must be done about it: It is now time for a comprehensive review of the governor's past and current fundraising activities. If the activities he has engaged in are not illegal, they ought to be. At a minimum, they are grossly unethical and beneath the dignity of the office of governor of
California.
"Recently, Attorney General Bill Lockyer asked for evidence of wrongdoing. Well, Mr. Attorney General, here is your evidence.
"Immediate action must be taken to get to the bottom of this latest Davis scandal.
1. The attorney general should open a comprehensive review into influence peddling that may have occurred surrounding the signing of the high speed rail authority bill, SB 1856.
2. The attorney general should determine if a state employee raising campaign funds under the power of his office and possibly utilizing state resources, violated any state laws.
3. The high speed rail authority should make public any and items surrounding this fundraising event, this legislation, and any other fundraising events in which members of the authority may have engaged.
4. The governor should return any money he raises in conjunction with the high-speed rail authority.
"At 4 p.m. today, Governor Davis is scheduled to attend a fundraiser far away from the state capitol, in the middle of the afternoon, in the middle of a workday, in the middle of the bill signing, one of the most intense periods of the year for a governor.
"Past governors have spent upwards of 22 hours a day working on bills.Gray Davis spends 12 hours a day fundraising.
"I have pledged not to raise money during the bill signing period. It is wholly inappropriate, It sends the signal that state policy is for sale, and the appearance of impropriety must be avoided.
"Far from trying to avoid this problem however, Gray Davis appears to exploit the power of his signature and his position as a "public servant" for political gain.
"Two decades ago, the state capitol was awash in campaign finance scandals. Politicians went to jail for selling influence or access for campaign cash. Many thought that wave of scandals changed the culture, and it was understood not to mix policy and fundraising. But sadly, that corruption has returned in the person of Gray Davis. The lessons learned before have been forgotten, but they must be relearned, for this state deserves better."

Gray Davis never misses an opportunity to oil his way into the local and national media. He even exploits tragedies of lost or mudered children to get his face on TV.
However, today, Davis turned down a Fox News request to appear on national T.V. with Governor Bill Owens of Colorado.
Fox News Show Host, Bill O'Reilly kidded that Davis was "too busy thinking up ways to soak his people with taxes".
O'Reilly was doing a feature on states with the best and worst tax laws. Colorado has the best. California has the worst.
Gov. Owens was part of a citizen's coalition who wrote and passed Colorado's " Taxpayer Bill of Rights", a law that requires a vote from citizens to raise taxes. Colorado is the only state that will not raise taxes without a vote from it's citizens. The state income tax in Colorado is 5% , the sales tax is 3%. Owens said that the Colorado government does not grow unless it's economy grows. It has no homelessness.
By contrast, the California government taxes it's citizens to death and grows at twice the rate of the economy. California is flooded with homelessness.
The bank accounts of Davis, his administration and his band of multi-millionaire contributors are overflowing just like those of the CEOs of Enron, Worldcom and Tyco. Davis has accumulated a war chest of $59 million in contributions to keep the billions flowing into their bank accounts.
Homeowners have been loosing their savings, retirements and homes to Davis and his CAI gangs. He authored the infamous Davis-Stirling Act - the law that allows CAI lawyers to foreclose on homes without a judicial determination for as little as $5. Many have been made homeless by this law. It was written by the same CAI lawyers who do the foreclosing. There are now two more homeowner bills on his desk for his signature, AB 2289 and AB 555 crafted by his contributors and his administration. They spell devastation again for homeowners.
Now we know why Davis refused to appear on Reilly's show. It would have been a very taxing experience!! How right O'Reilly was!!!
