Taffy, you are a woman after my own heart!! Thank you so much for the truth in your article. I have felt so alone in fighting this battle with HOA's and their management companies. It's so refreshing to see there are other people willing to speak up to be heard and tired of hiding behind closed doors.
You hit on so many offenses going on with homeowners that I am near speechless that someone other than myself finally has the courage to put it in writing too.
I am sure the people that are in charge of my community print out all of the articles and comments I make just to find ways later to harass me and zing it to me later for some stupid meaningless violation that they think they have discovered 5 years after the fact. Which, by the way, is going on right now with painted garage windows that I have for the past 5 years and now that I am trying to sll my home just to get away from them, they have decided it was time to look for ways to access fines and liens if I don't undo now what I did 5 years previously when my home was broken into...I know the games they are playing all too well.
What can one person alone do when the Board of Directors cannot be personally sued because they are protected by these privately owned government programs put in place to keep homeowners in line? They laugh at all of us because they rule and they cannot be touched along with the management company. They are all protected while we pay their attorney bills, their association fees, their common area taxes and live with their CC&R's that are as old as us, if not older.
I hope a lot more people start to come out of their closets and finally take a stand to fight for what is ours...our homes, our lives, our freedom, our country!
I solicit God's help on this one because it is HUGE and I am sure it is not the way HE wants it to be for his Children and the People. He wants us to LIVE, LOVE and to be FREE. None of which we are doing when HOA's are allowed to exist.

Legalizing illegitimacy is what America;s homeowner association laws are about.
California politicians legalized the illegal use of maintenance dues by CAI lawyers and managers.
Until 1990, virtually all the CAI lawyers and managers involved homeowner association lawsuits were illegally using maintenance dues to finance their lawsuit business.
Managers trained by CAI lawyers would move into homeowner associations and convince the board members to file lawsuits against the developers , carpenters, plumbers, engineers, architects etc .
By doing so both the lawyers and the manager could pocket the millions in the homeowner association reserve accounts from the liability insurance policies of these building industries.
When angry homeowners discovered the illegal use of their reserves from their non-profit 501(c) 3 homeowner association corporations to make millions in profits for CAI lawyers and managers they reported it to the IRS and the California Attorney General. Both government offices ignored the scammed homeowners complaints. In the meantime the California politicians quietly passed AB879.
CAI lawyers and managers celebrated. A glossy newsletter one CAI lawyer sent had pictures the veteran CAI-CACM lawyers and managers drinking champagne in his pink cadillac convertible

Hear, hear!!!
As a 45 year Arizona resident, who has been personally affected by our governmental negligence in this respect (two attempted automobile thefts and two credit card frauds promulgated by illegals) and almost bankrupt I wholeheartedly support the information contained in this article.
As a grandchild of Scottish and German immigrants to this country, and watching how this "segment" of non-citizens have increased taxpayer costs throughout the years (with even their language), it has apalled me that my own state senator is supporting their illegal activities and corporate "insourcing" at the cost of the taxpaying American citizens. Jobs for youth and college students have declined commensurate with this increased "tolerance" for what basically is government condoned tax dodging, and corporate fraud.
Mr. McCain will not be getting my vote. John Kyl has taken a step in the right direction. Mr. McCain has betrayed his country (albeit under torture in Viet Nam), betrayed his state (does anyone remember the Charles Keating fiasco of the '80s), and betrayed his President (in the "backroom" Supreme Court nominee negotiations). He is not a Republican, he is an opportunist.
Thank you, Taffy, for your great article on this problem. The border states and the citizens living with this situation (Arizona has one of the highest personal property crime rates in the nation) have been all but ignored, and Mr. McCain and Mr. Kennedy (who has no clue living in Massachusetts) what the presence of these illegals have cost the American people.
