Homeowner Association should be banned. Here is why, the only benefit is to the city's and county's that collect your property taxes and give nothing in return in the form of services.
The city's and counties have made out like bandits with HOA's and it is nothing more than a criminal conspiracy to fleece taxpayers.
On top of that when you have a problem in your retirement community or HOA, you will risk everything if you attempt a lawsuit to enforce your legal rights.
What a racket, Al Capone would be jealous.
AUTHOR PROFILE: I live in one of the most mis-managed HOA I have ever had the displeasure to live in. The board refuses to read our CC&R's and abide by the rules that govern the use of our reserves. We have had 2 major fraudulent elections and our dues have gone up 64% in 10 years. The Board governs by the rule of dictatorship and forces its policies down the throat of the homeowners. Both elections resulted in 2-3 million in unnecessary expenditures. We have contacted the AG who agrees with our complaint but refu...

Yes, my daughter went to rent a truck to move the rest of our belongings out of our Homeowners Association - , Shadow Crest, and was told she would need to reserve a truck at least a week in advance. She was told there were a lot of trucks leaving out of California.
Currently we have five [5] homes for sale in our forty-two single family HOA, and not one of them has even had an offer.
Now, this is unusual for the Palm Springs, CA area -- but perhaps people are catching on to NOT BUY in HOAs,
If we don't sell, we will try and rent the thing out, but even renters are scarce -- with bad boards and crooked attorneys.
The "Golden State" has peeling fools gold everywhere.
WE have filed a an Insurance Claim, and next week, God willing we can get our lawsuit filed as well.

Seems like the good ol' boys network is alive and well and thriving in the California legislature. No wonder you all call them "state actors".
Of course, the good ol' boys network is almost impossible to avoid in any arena, but most of the good ol' boys in the New Wild West understands one thing quite a bit more than your pansy politicians seem to - The Constitution of the United States.
You won't find too many of them in the New Wild West willing to tear it asunder.
Those few political idiots who want to undermine it don't usually last long on their gilded 'thrones'. You people need to start making concerted efforts of voting out those pansy politicians who have turned your homes into money mills for lawyers.
We hear that a lot of you left coast Californians are bailing out of that State anyway. We are more than willing to welcome you all with open arms, but if you think you are going to move out to the New Wild West and bring your smelly rat race with you, think again. You won't fit in very well in these parts.
If you think we are talking about Texas, we aren't. Texans are really nothing more than Californian's with cowboy hats. Tsk Tsk.
We gave up on those boys long ago.......................
