The ONLY thing left is prayer? My experience is, prayer is the only thing that guarantees our other efforts will work. I hope you did not intend to put prayer down.
Let me go a step further than you have ventured.
Patrick Henry lived in a time when so many could become outraged, they would follow such leadership and fight for their freedom. They knew better than to regard freedom as an entitlement.... Freedom was and is a privilege, one that can be lost. It is only a right in a perfect society where rights are respected, thus it is a right in theory, never in practice.
In our Homeowner Association, good men sit back and wait for Patrick, or Patricia Henry. We who step up to the challenge fight that battle all alone, as our supporters sometimes applaud....and rarely do more than complain.
Like Jerry Maguire, who pleads, "Help me help you," we approach many who have so many better things to do than protect their home and family, and rid their community of corruption.
If the good men in HOA's came forward and acted on principle, the evildoers in HOA's, those blowhards and cheaters who feed upon the wealth of the apathetic, would disappear. Oh, THEY ARE a cowardly bunch.
So why do we who are on the side of right, cower at oppression? Make excuses for our laziness? Dump responsibility on those who will take it off our hands? Perhaps there ARE no good men, for good is as good does.
Freedom? People are too (and I say this advisedly) "damned" busy. Maintaining freedom is work. People have had to die to establish freedom, and freedom itself dies without truth and justice as its foundation. Truth is so unpopular these days-- freedom just does not have good prospects for a future in America.
HOA's are just an opportunistic host during the last few decades. Let's stop kidding ourselves, the experiemental herding of Americans within compounds is a compelling evil that acts as a communicable disease. One day, we won't know the difference between life inside an HOA and life outside of one. If communistic corporate controls can be lowered within HOA borders in the USA, they can be, sooner or later, imposed upon all.
