Suing over a pet problem? Call Animal Control, not an attorney. We had a renter who refused to keep his dog on a leash and even let it swim in the pool (gross). Residents called animal control and then the owner was notified by the board. That ended the problem. Suing over a dog? Something is wrong. Take over your board, we did and life is good!
Granted, we still have residents who want us to referee between them for the stupidest things known to man, the guy who installed his satelite dish and torn a whole in the roof but doens't want to pay for repairs, the person who wants us to paint the buildings purple and pink (yes, I am serious), the guy who lets his car alarm go off until the battery dies, the woman with 12 cats...all in all life is still good and it sure is better without that jerk president who would tow your car if you disagreed with him. Take your board over and eliminate non-judicial foreclosure! Opt for judicial and only exercise it as a last resort! Stop the money train for management companies and thier crooked lawyers! Look your board in the face and tell THEM, "hey Mr. President, tear down this wall!"

Sly Fox!!
Fox News - clearly the most watched cable news channel in the country, now the local news bravely ventures into the lion's den of HOA housing.
Wasn't it Fox Entertainment that made the movie THE COLONY with John Ritter (God rest his soul) about an out of control HOA? Wasn't it Fox Entertainment that created the X-FILES series and the episode with a Mr. Gogolak - the monster who ate the "BAD" HOA homeowners? Oh, and then there was the STEPFORD WIVES in their too sanitized beige stucco homes all in a row.......yeah, wasn't that one eery. Fox News California has also covered more than one highly publicized HOA horror story and homeowners certainly appreciate it. It isn't easy to get news coverage about the risks and liabilities that come with purchasing a home located within a homeowners association.
However, the HOA lawyer said it best when he said that your home isn't your castle in your HOA. tsk tsk.
Hey folks, if you can live with that - so be it. But then........would you really call that living?
Good luck to all of you.

Senate candidate Mr. Jim Galley, Fox News, and Mr. Pete Fuentes -
Thank you so much for this story! Frankly, we were a little surprised to see a report on this subject. For many years we have heard tons of complaints from our friends and family who live in homeowners associations but rarely saw anything in the papers or on the news. But this story? Wow - we could have never known just how bad things were getting out there.
After reading the comment by that one lawyer saying that your home is not your castle in a homeowners association, I shudder to think that we nearly sank our life savings into one.
Thank you AHRC for putting this story out there on the web too. Now we can just send the link around hoping we can save even one homeowner from making the mistake we almost made! OUch.
If there is somewhere we can send in a contribution to AHRC, please let us know. We are sorry to say that in Nebraska - you might be hard pressed to find such valuable information for people thinking of buying a house with a homeowner association.

"Let's face it. I'm not going to sugar coat it. Lawyers - we make money. Everybody knows that. We are simply doing our job". Michael Kim
Unbelievable quote Michael! No wonder there's an army marching behind you and David Peters?

Pete, FOX 6 News and Jim Galley and all the homeowners who speak up and tell the truth:
We the homeowners have a great deal to thank you for.
We need more good people like you in the media, courts and government.
