Sonni was able to call the local police to obtain protection. I cannot do that. Our local sheriff works for the Wintergreen Property Owners Assoctiation (WPOA). The police, the ARB and WPOA all have offices in the adjoining hallway. The police chief actually maintains the association's web site.
The local police are at the beck and call of WPOA's executive director, Mr. Russell Otis. They must deliver the covenant violation notices, the "OTIS NOTICE". The police will even come out to our homes to take pictures of alleged violations, if Russell demands it.
Our police chief wouldn't have a job if he tried to buck the system.
It's scary to me knowing that these police are also allowed to shoot deer in our community - over 500 in the past 2 years. What if Russell gets a better idea about how to take care of loose pets and troublesome homeowners?

"The ability to remove an entrenched HOA board of directors depends upon who is in control of the elections to begin with. That is usually the property managers working in cahoots with the board appointed so called inspectors of election. Talk about the fox watching the hen house.
But then of course, you could always have a court monitored election done. Got money? Then, at the end of that term, you could have another court monitored election done. Got more money?
In fact, you could go on forever in perpetuity trying to keep good, honest, moral people in control of yours and the rest of the homeowner's financial destiny.
What a way to live."

If homeowners do not band together to fight off these so-called Dictators, we may as well all abandon our homes because we have no rights to them if we get on the bad side on an Association.
They'll look for every little tiny spec of a chance to make you miserable while living in their community or they'll find ways to "fine" you, place "liens" on our homes, make it difficult to get approval to do anything with our homes, etc.
It's a nightmare and our legislatures and government officials need to open their eyes and begin the process of eliminating the mess they've created for the homeowners by allowing the
Associations to be formed in the first place.

Yeah, right! It is only in a community where people care enough to get rid of the board that you get rid of a board.

I've lived in a bad association for twenty years.
The way I feel right now is I could care less about my home. These management firms and thir attorneys, plus all our power hungry board members have made it personal to me.
I've tried the Government thing, with no responce, now I'm going to make our board members life a living hell, legally, with the power of the pen, ads in the newspaper, signs, verbal suggestions, whatever it takes to make them feel like the scum they are.

Cannot homeowners unite and remove the board, then vote in those they trust?
