I have a few questions.
1. What did these lawyers think they could accomplish by sitting in a car and doing drive-bys of the Bass residence?
2. Were their efforts an attempt to intimidate the Bass family?
3. Were their intimidation efforts billable to the Brook Hills Homeowner Association.
I just think it is a very sad state of affairs when you have to call the Sheriff's Department and have a Deputy Sheriff sit outside your home to protect you from your own HOA attorneys.
Hang in there Sonni....we will be following the story.

This press conference announcement by California Senate candidate James Galley generated some damage control activity by David Peters and Simon Freedman of the Peters & Freedman lawfirm. James Galley said that both David Peters and Simon Freedman called and faxed information to him both on the day before and on the day of the press conference itself.
Homeowners coming to the residence of Sonni Bass at Brook Hills Homeowners association said the association lawyer, Michael Kim of Peters & Freedman, was sitting in his car at the entrance using his cell phone as they arrived . David Peters then joined him in his $100,000 black Mercedes CL500 and reportedly drove past the Bass residence a couple of times.
Fearing potential problems, Sonni called the Sheriff. A sheriff parked his SUV in front of the residence during James Galley's entire press meeting of the association homeowners with Fox 6 News and The Village Press..
Sonnie Bass is being sued by Brook Hills Homeowners Association over a light she installed outside her home in her rural 2 acre property. (Case GIN 026443 San Diego Superior Court) She has countersued Brook Hills Homeowenrs Association, John Nilsson, Peters & Freedman (the association lawyers) and N.N. Jaschke (the manager).
Sonni says that Michael Kim told the homeowners that they would not incur any legal fees as the insurance (Travelers Insurance) would pay all the bills. However, a homeowner who reviewed the association records reported that the association has paid Peters & Freeman $31,000 though December 2003. Sonni's atttorneys have already charged her $48,000. so far.
Sonni has received $2,000 from the law firm of Peters & Freedman in sanctions that Judge Jacqueline Stern fined Peters and Freedman. The trial date has not been set..

Dear Mr. Galley :
I hope you become pro-active and fair should you become involved in the HOA Wars.
Private property owners are becoming unwilling slaves to these small, "lawyer-driven" Boards of Directors and legislation needs to be initiated soon to control this type of totalitarian activity.
I am not from Fallbrook but my sons and daughters are out there and I know the area well. It is too nice to be "governed" by self-serving individuals who have never had any power or control over anybody until they got "elected" to a Board of Directors consisting of like-minded individuals who abuse their new-found authority and control.
Good luck and I trust you will act fairly and justly in this matter.
