Press Release
CLOTHESLINES BARRED IN HOMEOWNER ASSOCIATIONS

A USA Today query

December 01, 2004

By Deborah Sharp (View author info)

New York, California -

The following is a request for homeowner association stories from a correspondent at USA Today

A USA today query

Hi, AHRC Staff … thanks for taking so much time with me on the phone.

As I mentioned, I'm looking less at the issue of foreclosure and more at how people may be restricted by homeowner associations from doing "non-conformist'' things with their property (i.e., hanging laundry outside, planting outlawed landscaping, painting their homes an unacceptable color).

I am looking for such examples, ESPECIALLY CLOTHESLINES THAT HAVE BEEN BARRED, and would appreciate you putting the word out for people who I could possibly interview on this topic.

Thanks,

Deborah Sharp

Subject: Thanks for all the USA Today responses; I have enough

Hi, AHRC … Just wanted to thank all the people who took the time to respond to the query I sent out about difficulties with homeowner association rules against clotheslines, home color, landscaping and the like.

I was staggered by the response. Because of space and time constraints, I will not be able to use most of the examples that were submitted.

I do appreciate the input, and perhaps will contact some of those folks again in the future for another story.
