Press Release
Arizona Real Estate Department Recommends Homeowner Advocate's Web Site

Home buyers can now get information about HOAs and its lack of protections for homeowners.

April 24, 2002

By George K. Staropoli (View author info)

Arizona, - Citizens Against Private Government HOAs, Inc (CAPGH) is pleased to announce that its web site, has been selected by the Arizona real estate department to provide prospective home buyers with important information on homeowners associations.

With the ever increasing media coverage of homeowner complaints against HOAs, the Commissioner of Real Estate has come to the aid of home buyers seeking to purchase a home in an HOA-controlled property.

In his statement in the February Issue of the Arizona real estate bulletin, the commissioner re-affirmed the requirement of agents to disclose all material information to their clients, and that included HOA related information.

The new buyer advisor forms Forms 8220 and 8221 to be given to buyers will now provide web site links on where to obtain information on homeowners associations.

Mr. Staropoli, Founder of the nonprofit CAPGH, welcomes this proactive step toward educating consumers. Mr. Staropoli believes, that other states should follow the Arizona lead and make sure that all the factors affecting living in an HOA are provided, before the buyer commits to a purchase and signs Form 8221;.

Information on the web site, applicable to all states, deals with the restrictions on homeowner rights and the limited protection provided by the state governments.

The viewer is told that HOA board possesses broad, unregulated powers that even when a homeowner brings a court case for alleged violations by the board, the only available option in most states, the decision usually goes against the homeowner.

Internet links to other homeowner rights websites in other states are also provided.
