We've Only Begun to Fight!

October 08, 2004

Pittsburg, California -

Ok California, I just got a real good kick in the butt for saying to someone in Sacramento our efforts were wasted on AB2598. Instead, he states, our efforts were invested. This will be in front of the legislature again next year.

We need to continue writing Senator Ducheny and Assemblyman Steinberg with our stories so they are aware of what is going on and continues to go on.

As we all know, the California Law Revision Commission (CLRC) is asking for comments to complete their study on an oversight commission of homeowner associations in California. They will base many of their decisions on what is happening to us now.

What the boards are doing that are illegal, what the management companies are doing, how difficult either makes it for us to get such things as membership lists, financial records, etc.

I am willing to keep track of the information and send it on if anyone would care to post it here. My fianace spoke in front of the CLRC several weeks ago and it seems they are willing to do something for the homeowners if they can get enough feedback from us. They don't want complaints, they want facts.

If you prefer, you can write or contact Brian Hebert, the CLRC staff lawyer who co-ordinates this at the Commission.

Thanks.
