Summary: Phillips was sued by some key clients for malpractice . She abandoned two of her clients (both were key California advocates) after scheduling both the trials for December 6, 1999 (one in Riverside California and the other in Orange County California). She had collected about $160,000 from these clients. Her client's court papers allege that she failed to do the required discovery and preparation for trial. Court papers also allege that she disparaged her clients and lied to the courts so that she could withdraw and not go through the trial. Both clients and two other who made similar allegations sued her at about the same time. CNA Insurance, her insurance company, cancelled her malpractice coverage. Peters & Freedman used misrepresentations by her to help them win their case against one homeowner by character assassination in court. One homeowner alleges in court filings that Peters & Freedman lawyers withheld evidence, provided false evidence, lied to the court and with the assistance of a biased Judge, David Chaffee, won the case and collected $225,000. in legal fees.
