Former chair of the California Assembly Housing Committee, politician Dan Hauser, was a notorious friend of the homeowner associations lobbyist CAI and CLAC, and ECHO.

He introduced legislation after legislation (some of which are numbered on the faces of the homeowner execution squad) to advance the interest of CAI/CLAC and ECHO at the terrible expense of homeowners.

For example, he authored AB 879 which allowed homeowner association reserves (homeowners savings for capital replacements of their property) to be used for lawyers fees without the knowledge or consent of the homeowners.
